Volunteer Application

This form will open on September 15, 2013 at 7:00 PM MST until October 1, 2013 at 7:00 PM MST.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Otafest!
 
Below are our basic requirements for all volunteers:

  • All volunteers must be able to volunteer for a minimum of four hours for the duration of the festival.
  • All volunteers must attend a brief training session prior to the festival.
     

By volunteering with Otafest you will receive some awesome perks and swag! Below is what you can expect to receive for lending us your time:

  1. Free admission to festival when not on shift
  2. Meals during the festival (Lunch and Dinner)
  3. An Otafest volunteer T-Shirt
  4. An Otafest lanyard
  5. A warm fuzzy feeling from making Otafest awesome, and
  6. Our everlasting appreciation
     

You will be working with one or more departments during the event. Here's a brief description of each department's responsibilities:

  • Admissions
    • Receiving payment at the registration desk
    • Ensuring that patrons submit a complete registration form
    • Manning the pre-registration booth and the general information booth
       
  • Audio/Visual (A/V)
    • Operating the viewing rooms
    • Starting the programs for the rooms
    • Ensuring that viewings run smoothly
       
  • Policy Enforcement
    • Ensuring that patrons are staying safe and following Otafest's policies
       
  • Special Events
    • Helping set up and take down of the various panels or events
    • Helping panelists/event runners to ensure the event runs smoothly
    • Ensuring panels/events start and end on schedule
       
  • Vendors
    • Helping set up and take down of the vendor room
    • Organizing the vendor area for the vendors
    • Helping vendors set up their wares
    • Monitoring the floor to ensure the safety of the vendors, merchandise, and Otafest patrons
       

In addition to departmental responsibilities, all volunteers are also responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring patrons have proof of payment to enter Otafest rooms (i.e a wristband or a badge)
  • Assisting patrons with their questions and concerns or directing them someone who can help
  • Ensuring the safety of patrons and the University property
  • Upholding the good name of Otafest
     

Please make sure that you understand all of the information given above before applying. Volunteers will be chosen after the deadline for this application. All volunteers will be emailed with the results of our decision. We can't wait to have you as a part of our community!
