Otafest is a Calgary based non-profit organization expressing the values of charity, quality, and transparency. The body of our activity pertains to the promotion of Japanese art, culture, and media in the Canadian community, and our organization rests firmly on the spirit of community collaboration and volunteerism.

Otafest 2013 Numbers

The numbers are up!

At Otafest 2013, 4,947 attendees banded together to raise $12,474 for The Canadian Mental Health Association - Calgary Branch!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making Otafest's 15th birthday as awesome as it was!!!
The Otafest community never fails to amaze us and you've all done it once again this year: whether you ran a panel, gave us your time as a volunteer, donated your pocket change to the charity, participated in our charity auction, or simply even came out to have some fun, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude for the role that each and every one of you play in making our community as amazing as it is. We're going to continue to get bigger and better and we're so glad that we have all of you along for the ride.

Finally, to those who this Otafest was their first: Welcome to the family! We hope you had a lot of fun, and we would like to see you again!

Kieran Strange May 31st

If you missed Kieran Strange at Otafest or if you just can't get enough of her, she'll be back in Calgary!

That's right, Kieran Strange and her band will be back in Calgary for a concert on May 31st! She'll be performing at The New Black Centre for Music and Art at 6:00pm, and all ages are welcome. Tickets will cost $15 at the door and advance tickets can be purchased for $10 (see below)

A HUGE thanks to everyone who came to Otafest 2013! Seeing all of you having fun on the days of makes the tireless nights of work we put into Otafest all worth it. Seriously.

We raised OVER $12,000 for the Canada Mental Health Association this year! HOLY CRAP. That's AMAZING, and it's all because of you! We absolutely love how supportive you all are of your community.

Food Trucks at Otafest 2013

More exciting news! There will be four food trucks attending Otafest 2013!

Red Wagon Diner, Shogun Teppanyaki Grill, The Family Fry Guy, and Avatara Pizza will be offering their delicious food during the convention!

May 17 Friday: 5:00PM - 9:00PM (Shogun not available to attend)
May 18 Saturday: 11:00AM - 4:00PM
May 19 Sunday 11:00AM - 4:00PM

They will be located at the loop near MacEwan Student Centre!
