Otafest is a Calgary based non-profit organization expressing the values of charity, quality, and transparency. The body of our activity pertains to the promotion of Japanese art, culture, and media in the Canadian community, and our organization rests firmly on the spirit of community collaboration and volunteerism.

Cosplay Contest Registration

Day-of registration for the Cosplay Contest will be in EEEL 161 starting at 10:30am on Saturday and go until 2:30pm or when applications are cut off due to time constraints. When you sign up you will also meet with three of the judges for pre-judging right away.

There are limited spaces left so make sure you are there as close to 10:30 as you can be!

Prizes for the Cosplay Contest, Cosplay Showcase, and Idol!

Otafest is stepping up its prizes! We have $1,000 of Prepaid Mastercard Gift Cards to be split amongst the winners of the Cosplay Contest, $1,000 of Prepaid Mastercard Gift Cards to be split amongst the winners of the Cosplay Showcase (formerly known as the Hall Masquerade), and $500 of Prepaid Mastercard Gift Cards to be split amongst the winners of Otafest Idol! In giving out monetary awards, Otafest hopes to be able to support your cosplaying addictions and help you reach that next level of Cosplay mastery one trip to Fabricland at a time!

CTrain Closures!

Every year, the City of Calgary closes some of their train stations for maintenance.

This year's closures are the following (May 18-20):
- ALL downtown stations
- Victoria Park / Stampede (SE)
- Erlton / Stampede (SE)
- 39th ave (SE)
- Chinook (SE)
- Rundle (NE)

As always, they will have shuttle busses running between the closed stations.

Pre-Registration Early Pick Up Room Confirmed!

If you have pre-registered for Otafest 2013 on Eventbrite or came to the Pot Luck, you can come pick your wristband(s) up early on Thursday, May 16, 2013! If you are unable to pick your wristband up on Thursday, you are more than welcome to pick them up at your convenience at any time during the convention.

Here are the details for THURSDAY pick-up:
- Thursday wristband pick-up will be open from 4:30pm - 8:00pm on Thursday, May 16, 2013.
- Pick-up will be located in the Science Theatres at the University of Calgary, in room ST 140.

- The pre-registration only pin (Yukata Seph) will be on sale at this time, for $5.00 (Click here for information).

Here are the details for FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY pick-up:
- You can get your wristbands at the pre-registration desk located near the main registration desk in the ICT building.
- You may pick your wristband up whenever you arrive at the convention.

- The pre-registration only pin (Yukata Seph) will be on sale at this time for $5.00 (Click here for information).

In either case, please print your tickets and bring them with you.

Please remember that you may only pick up your wristbands on Thursday if you have bought your tickets online or at our pot luck!
